Municipal institute of Cultural Action
The Municipal Institute of Cultural Action (IMAC) is an autonomous organization of Mataró's City Council, created to manage, organize and administrate the municipal resources to promote culture as a progress factor and as a social cohesion factor of all the citizens of Mataró.
The big areas in which the organization supports creation, education, programming and diffusion, study, proximity and participation are:
- Heritage (museums, archaeology and nature)
- Scenic arts (regular programming ,Theatre Class, resident theatre company "Art Trànsit" and Shakespeare Festival)
- Visual arts (programming exhibitions, creation support, cinema)
- Music (small concerts, ancient music and agreements with entities)
- Festivals and popular culture (festival calendar and masquerades of Mataró)
- Promoting reading (Public Library Pompeu Fabra, literary activities and publishing)
