The masquerades of Mataró are institutional. Everybody can  become a member of every masquerade's club, as a bearer or as a musician, in accordance with its rules. And everybody is invited to take part in the organizing committee of Les Santes (The Saints), National Festival of Mataró.
 

Furthermore, there are several groups of citizens who have created different clubs to share interests and activities about an specific subject they have in common: when it comes to scenic arts, there are the "Friends of the Monumental Theater"; when it comes to art, there are the "Friends of Ca l'Arenas", and when it comes to reading and to Pompeu Fabra Library, there are the "Library people".
