2nd International Organ Festival Mataró-Barcelona Jaume Isern

After the success of the 1rst International Organ Festival Mataró-Barcelona, the city of Mataró seeks to strengthen the Festival by organising a second edition. This year's programme of events includes innovative activities: we will offer a rock-organ concert, we will add soundtrack to silent films, and we will take organ music to the streets...

The main objective of the Festival is to bring organ music closer to people, from a wide range of perspectives: musical, historical, pedagogic, touristic... Besides offering concerts in the Basilica of Santa Maria, the Festival puts emphasis on training via the International Summer Organ Academy, with renowned professors who offer classes, seminars and practical sessions with organs of the region.

There are also guided visits to the organ of Santa Maria in order to get familiar with the instrument, which is the largest one in Catalonia and has an important historical value. The guided visits, as well as one of the concerts, will be led by Raúl Prieto, organist-in-residence at the Basilica of Santa Maria and both promoter and artistic director of the Festival.
