I am a spectator

I like sitting in the stall, when the lights go off and everything is ready to begin, sharing activities with my children, debating if the actress has lived up to my expectations or if this version of the classical play is better than the previous one... I like dance, on stage and outside,  I enjoy music, arriving early at the City council to see the Giants dancing...

I like theater, ancient music, family activities, watching the parades go by, cinema  just at it was filmed... I like being a spectator in my city.

In Mataró, there are two dance and theatre seasons every year in the Monumental Theater, and several complementary activities, like, for example, the possibility to listen the actors or directors of a play explaining their work in the cycle “A coffee with”: previous meetings to the performances with its protagonists.

The music programming of the IMAC is based on the cycle concerts for children on Sunday noon and on the annual programming of the Week of Ancient Music. The public entity takes part in the  other musical activities of the city through the House of Popular Musiciand the Musicians  Grouping of the Maresme, both of them work thanks to the agreements with the City council.

You will also find, in the Monumental Theater, a regular season of original version cinema, with subtitles, every Thursday at 21:00 and the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month at  19:00.  There is also a cycle of cinema for children in Catalan.

Children also have their own spectator stall in the Monumental Theater: there is a theatre programming specifically thought for children, the 3rd Sunday of every month at 18:00, and several concerts for families some Sundays at noon. They are the first contact of the children with actors, live music, musical instruments, theatre plays... their first experiences as spectators of a cultural facility,  the theatre. Today's young spectators will be tomorrow's spectators.
