Mataró is a sports city with a number of facilities such as football pitches, swimming pools, sports centres and athletics tracks, gyms, and sports clubs of different disciplines. Organizing championships and races of international projection is already a tradition of the city.

Half Marathon Mataró City. The Half Marathon Mataró City has been held every first December Sunday for a few years now. It is a running event of 21,097 Km, included in the calendars of the Catalan Federation of Athletics and the Real Spanish Federation of Atlètic. It is also a part of the Challenge of Half Marathons - Gran Premi Diputació de Barcelona (Award Barcelona Deputation).
