JAUME ISERN CONCERT SERIES

This year's programme includes six concerts in the city (three at the Basilica of Santa Maria, two at the Teatre Monumental and one at the Convent de les Carmelites) performed by internationally renowned musicians. At the Basilica there will be a breathtaking lighting and a huge screen so that the audience can enjoy the artists' performance. All concerts will be preceded by a meeting with the performer at 7.30pm at the Museu Arxiu de Santa Maria.

Inaugural concert with Konstantin Volostnov The Russian elegance comes back to Mataró
The Moscow musician is organist, pianist and harpsichordist. He has performed in a number of internationally renowned festivals and offers concerts around the world. Since 2010 he teaches at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky conservatory.

Concert with Kyke Serrano Music and drinks: the Catalan region of l'Empordà
Kyke Serrano, one of the most renowned keyboardists in the country impels us to use our five senses to enjoy his visual rock while having a glass of wine, carefully chosen for the occasion. Kyke Serrano has been member of the band Jarabe de Palo and has worked together with David Bustamante, among many others. He has recorded more than 100 CD's.

Concert with Thomas TrotterFrom Bach to Wagner
He is one of Britain's most widely admired musicians. The excellence of his musicianship has led him to perform as soloist with the best conductors in the world. Besides playing regularly in Birmingham (he is Brimingham City Organist), he tours on four continents and plays at the best world festivals.

The organ and silent films The brightness and naivety of the Happy Twenties
Organ concert with spectacular pieces and improvisations as soundtrack to emblematic silent films. The performer will be Ulrich Walther, one of the most renowned German organists, who is currently working as a professor at the University of Graz (Austria).

Església Parroquial de Sant Andreu de Llavaneres
Organ with concert castanets
The performers will be Mina Jerez, concert castanets, and organist Bruno Frost.
An innovative proposal including a visit to the church altarpiece and organ, beginning at 9pm. In partnership with the Department of Culture of Llavaneres Town Council and the church Església Parroquial de Sant Andreu de Llavaneres.

10th Spectacular organ concert of Les Santes
Performed by Raúl Prieto
At the age of 27 he was the first organist to be employed by the Spanish National Orchestra and Choir as artistic advisor, performer and disseminator. He is currently a full time concert organist and plays around the world. In one of Prieto's CD's, the organist performs as soloist at the Milan Cathedral in Italy, and in another one he plays in a concert with piano and organ, recorded at the famous modernist Palau de la Música in Barcelona (featuring Duo MusArt). Whenever he can, he performs at the Basilica of Santa Maria, and he looks after the preservation and maintenance of its wonderful organ. He is the artistic director of the Festival and has played at Les Santes (the town celebrations of Mataró) for 10 years now.

Convent de les Carmelites de Mataró
The devil dressed as a friar, Organ with concert castanets
Performed by Mina Jerez, concert castanets, and organist Bruno Frost. They are the only duet of organ and concert castanets in Spain, and their proposal is both innovative and well documented from a historical point of view. There will be a talk with the artists as an introduction to the concert at 7.30pm at the Museu Arxiu de Santa Maria.

Organ music in the streets
Another of this year's novelties is Raul Prieto's innovative proposal. The organist will offer several miniconcerts in the streets, starting on the hour and on the ½ hour between 7 and 9pm.

COMMENTED VISITS TO THE GREAT ORGAN OF THE BASILICA OF SANTA MARIA DE MATARÓ

The organ of Santa Maria is the largest one in Catalonia, both in number of pipes and keyboard range. It also has a remarkable historical value, since it was made with the clear intention to make a perfect instrument out of it; the one with the highest quality in the country. Organist Raúl Prieto knows the history and the musicality of the organ better than anyone else; he will lead the commented visits and will show the way the instrument works. It has 4.557 pipes measuring up to 6 metres, 4 keyboards of 61 notes and a pedal of 32 notes.
One of the novelties of this years' edition is the night visit of Saturday the 13th at 11pm, a very special activity.

All activities are free. Concerts at Teatre Monumental need pre-reservation free tickets. Pre-reservation can be done at Cultura (C. de Sant Josep) monday to friday 9 to 14 i and wednesday to friday from 18 to 20. You can also get the tickets at the Teatre Monumental the same day of the concert from 20 pm.
